Medical Detox FAQs - Medically Supervised Detox - Ascendant New York

Medical Detox FAQs

You are always welcome to call us with any questions or use our contact form to submit an inquiry. We have also compiled the questions that people ask most frequently before entering detox treatment.

When Is Medical Detox Necessary?

Medical detox is the first step in any treatment for addiction, including counseling or rehab. By having your system free of addictive substances, you are able to work more effectively toward your sobriety goals.

If substance use has created problems for your health, career, social relationships, or even if you are just concerned with your use, you may want to talk with your doctor about medically supervised detox. Your physician can make recommendations about the best course of treatment for you. We can conduct an evaluation and work with your doctor to ensure you are getting the right care for your needs.

What Is Medically Supervised Detox?

Medically supervised detox is a safe way to manage the physical symptoms of withdrawal from drug use and it is the first step in addiction treatment before long-term counseling or rehab programs start. Our physicians prescribe recommended medications to ease the acute symptoms of drug withdrawal and our staff helps to keep you as comfortable as possible during the process.

What Will Detox Be Like?

At Ascendant New York, we strive to make patients’ medical detox experience comfortable, safe and successful. A typical stay is approximately 7 days and during that time we treat you for the discomfort of withdrawal with medications and therapies, as needed. You will have around-the-clock care to monitor your health and well-being.

Since each individual is unique, your treatment plan will be tailored to you and we work with you, your loved ones and physician to ensure all of your needs are being met.

How Much Will My Detox Cost?

The cost of care will depend on your individual needs. We accept private payment and most insurance as an out-of-network provider. Our professional staff will help to determine costs for you based on your needs and coverage. You are welcome to contact us with any questions you may have.

How Long Will My Stay Be?

Your treatment plan will be based on your assessment and any information from your provider. Once we determine the best course of treatment for you, we can provide an estimated length of stay. On average, our patients are in our residential treatment program for 4-7 days. Some stays may be shorter or longer depending on the substances being used, length of use, and the individual health of the patient.

What Are the Living Arrangements?

We provide a safe place of healing that is serene and well-considered to provide the greatest possible comfort during withdrawal. Within our walls you will find the sanctuary you need to focus on your recovery.  We offer double or single accommodations and well-appointed open areas for reading, watching television or socializing. There are also private areas for examinations and consultation as well as rooms for activities such as yoga and group therapy.

What Happens After Treatment?

From the time that you enter Ascendant New York, we start to work with you and your physician to craft an aftercare plan, including treatment during and after your stay. Your treatment may continue on an outpatient basis, or you may move on to a rehab for further care. Whatever your circumstance, we coordinate with doctors and other facilities to make your transition as smooth as possible.
