With a specialized focus on substance abuse and the unique way it impacts the lives of his clients, Zev is a licensed social worker that uses a psychodynamic approach within the context of the family system in his clinical practice. Through the ever-evolving lens of a relational perspective, Zev incorporates elements of attachment theory, trauma informed care, and skill-based modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and dialectical behavioral therapy to help clients further their insight and awareness in a safe holding environment that honors their right to self-determination.
After graduating from New York University with a Master’s Degree in Social Work in 2019, Zev first worked at the Counseling Service of the Eastern District of New York, an outpatient to help support formerly incarcerated individuals going through re-entry. At Ascendant, Zev has had the privilege of working in four different levels of care including medically supervised detox, inpatient rehabilitation, and currently as the primary therapist in intensive outpatient services.
Having worked in all levels of care has afforded Zev the unique opportunity to help guide clients through each step of the recovery process. Valuing service to his profession and continuing education, Zev is also a certified field instructor through New York University, providing clinical supervision to graduate school students who are completing their internships of either general or specialized practice. In his free time, Zev enjoys reading, traveling, watching sports at home, trying new restaurants, and going to the movies.
